QUATUOR EBENE

Pierre Colombet & Gabriel Le Magadure violins, Mathieu Herzog viola & Raphaël Merlin cello

Few quartets have attracted such universal praise as the Quatuor Ebene so early in their career.  Their charismatic presence on stage is converting audiences into avid fans of chamber music.  The Ebene’s latest CD of Debussy, Fauré and Ravel quartets was selected by BBC Radio 3’s ‘Building a Library’ choice for the Fauré and earned the highly prized accolade of the Gramophone magazine’s ‘Record of the Year 2009’.

The Northern Trust Chamber Concert programme, which is being recorded from St James Concert Hall by BBC Radio 3 for the national network, has the Quatuor Ebene performing Mozart’s Divertimento no 1, Bartok’s quartet no 1 and one of the pillar’s of the repertoire, Schubert’s ‘Death and the Maiden’.
